Who are we

Vision & mission  :

Food and access to health care are fundamental rights to which the poor have no access. This guides Louvain Coopération au Développement in defining its mission, its objectives and in achieving its actions.

The people with whom we cooperate are often subject to unexpected shocks (natural elements, epidemics, ...) which exacerbate their vulnerability. With only their own strength to count on, these families are particularly vulnerable in their lack of social protection systems, especially in rural areas.

Our vision of development is a process of permanent social transformation in the heart of disadvantaged populations, in order to build together a more equal society in which everyone can achieve his or her aspirations.

The values of Louvain Coopération au Développement fit the words of Amartya Sen * "Developing is freeing people to be themselves able to formulate and achieve their aspirations"

Our mission is based on two axes :

  • Facilitate the implementation of actions to improve the living conditions and health of poor, marginalized or excluded populations.

  • Support initiatives aimed at improving the political, economic and social context, in other words, general well-being.

Both sides are closely related to the promotion of sustainable development * in the North as well as in the South and reflect our belief of "developing to liberate".
