Economic & food security

Today, more than one billion people live on less than a dollar a day and can not provide in their basic needs, especially food. We target rural areas, with extreme poverty, where our projects allow the populations to develop their own initiatives within reliable networks of solidarity, to accumulate reserves (storage, livestock, savings) and to enhance their ecnonomic and food security.

To achieve this objective, we foster an integrated approach where projects support the populations who organise themselves to buy equipment in bulk for resale at retail. This enables them to develop possibilities for storage of resources and to better cope with the market.

Louvain Coopération au Développement also supports the establishment of local economy desks. Accessible to all, they offer advice and training in management and support beneficiaries in their projects.

This is the access to all and at all times to the food necessary to lead an active and healthy life.
